On May 2nd, 2007 we were alerted, via Wendy Bennett of
Backcountry Bernese, to a litter of 'Berners' whose mother had to undergo emergency surgery, thus resulting in her 11 puppies premature birth.
It wasn't long after we heard of this, since we have Chelsea who recently had four of her own puppies (they are six weeks old), we contacted friends of the breeders and our offer of bringing some of the puppies here was extended.
Mid morning, May 3rd, thanks to Lisa & Rodney Ibelshauser, of Stockli Bernese Mountain Dogs, 5 of these puppies arrived to hopefully be mothered by Chelsea. It didn't take Chelsea long to get into the motherhood groove again, and we are very happy to report she is thrilled with 'her' new puppies, as if they were hers all along.
These very special puppies were lovingly bred by Vivienne Muller, of FalconLake Kennels, who continues to look after the remainder of the litter with one of her Golden Girls acting as surrogate mum.For more information on this litter visit Falcon Lake Kennels.
We would like to extend a big thank-you to Lisa & Rodney for staying here to make sure the initial transition went smoothly.
Check back here often for photos of these beautiful babies.
Puppies are now averaging two pounds!! They are 13 days old below.
Unfortunately we lost one of the boys, but the remaining 4 are doing wonderful and are all over a pound now. Photos below are of puppies a week of age.
